Planning A Vacation

Last year, we did not go on vacation because we have visitors from our home country for the whole summer. This summer, we are not expecting visitors to be coming so we are planning to go to Myrtle Beach this August. The big kids want to come again with us together with the two little boys.

I have been checking a travel site everyday. The prices keep on going up as it gets closer to summer. A friend suggested that I should check the for rent by owners resorts or condos in the Myrtle Beach area since they are cheaper than hotel prices. With the for rent by owners, you are negotiating directly to the owner of the property.

I have requested for four quotes through email through their website. I already got couple of responses. I got an email from a Cincinnati lawyer but I am not sure if he is the real owner or is just representing somebody else. I was really surprised reading the correspondence coming from a Cincinnati criminal lawyer. I was expecting somebody from the same area too. I would be more surprised if this is the Cincinnati OVI lawyer that I met before. For the quotes he gave me, the condos are reasonably priced for the 2BR and 3BR but I saw the price decrease by the end of August. Three more weeks later that our target date is still ok looking at the savings we can get.

If I do not get any more quotes from other owners by the weekend,  I would close the deal with this one.
The dates are still perfect and by the time we come back from SC, we be heading for the U.S. Open in NYC.

He Comes at 3:45 P.M.

I am talking about the ice cream man. In some other town like where I live, we call him Mr. Frosty or Ms. Frosty if it is a lady driver. Here at my job, he is The Ice Cream Man.

He works only during warm season and for the rest of the year he is on vacation. He drives a food truck, like the mobile food truck Florida with two or three freezers inside. He sells all types of ice cream, chips, chocolates and sodas. The different offices where he goes everyday know what time he stops at their area so if he is late or does not come on a particular, people calls him or wonders what happened to him. But most of the time, he informs his customers on what days he is out. I tell you, I can see some employees already outside the building waiting for him when it is almost 2:45 p.m. during the summer time. Just to have a break from the heat, they want their ice cream same time everyday.

A lot is wondering how the ice cream man can work for only seven months and be on vacation for the rest of the year. He is one lucky person. And, I am envious of him.

Someone Needs Glasses

My daughter needs glasses. On her recent eye exam during her annual check up she had a hard time reading some letters from afar. The doctor said that there is no problem for reading but when it is at a distance, that's where she needs glasses like reading from the board in her class. She is excited about wearing glasses but I'm not really.  I think it's too early for her age. I started wearing reading glasses few years ago.

A House On a Lake

One thing I like to do during my break time at work is go through listing of houses in our area and neighboring towns. I love looking at houses, on how they are decorated. I get ideas on what colors I want to repaint my kitchen or bedroom, how to rearrange our furniture or what kind of patio set they have in their backyard. I even saw one house that have personalized doormats that I like which I ended looking for one online and ordered for myself.

There is a new listing today of beautiful town houses located by a lake that I fell in love with. There are only six units with similar designs, front and back yard. Each master bedroom has a veranda where you can come out and see the beauty of the lake. Each unit has the one car garage, three bedrooms on the third floor, kitchen, and spacious living room on the second floor. The only thing that would identify your unit from other unit is the color of the residential mailboxes. They are very similar to the Whitehall mailboxes you see online with the unit number on the front.

The weather is going to be beautiful this weekend. Maybe, we can drive by the lake and see the beauty of this place in person.

Thursday Night

Hay, it is a more relaxing night for me and my daughter. She has only two homework and all done when i got home from work. This only happens once in a blue moon because almost every school night she has at least 3 or 4 homework. I tell you, the math is not as simple as what we were learning before. I did not learn Algebra and Geometry when i was in 3rd Grade. She is a lot better than me in this subject.

My Co-worker is Leaving

We got word today that a co-worker gave a two week notice. She is not only changing jobs but relocating to another state. She was scared of this whole thing before because of the difficulty of finding jobs these days but she got lucky to find one in the same field of inventory. The job opening was posted by a local supply company online. It involves purchasing of various hotel bar supplies from an Atlanta hotel supply company. She has to make sure she gets better pricing when she shops for hotel supply online.

As of now, there is nobody to take her place. Her last day is Friday next week. I am not sure if my boss is hiring anybody right away. Since it is summer time, sometimes one of his kids would work here at the office so maybe he can take her place until the end of August. As long as there is somebody that would take her place before the summer season starts, we will be fine at work
