I am talking about my cousin who is visiting from the Middle East (she works there). I have not seen her for more than ten years.
She arrived two weeks ago and her visit has kept me/us busy especially during weekends. I will post all our travels, shopping, sightseeing and eats hopefully very soon.

Her 18 day vacation is not enough. This is her last week so we are making the most of it. I hope she can bring her daughter next time she comes for a visit.

On fridays, I make sure I can pick her up from school and my daughter is always looking forward for that day every week. And now that it is getting warmer, her other request is to walk home instead of riding in the car. We live only few blocks away from school so it's not really a long walk.

Here is a picture i took while she walks home with her cousin who lives next block from our house. They always have never ending stories. It's one kodak moment.

We Have Visitors

It would be a busy month for us starting this April. There are three batches of visitors coming over. The first one is my cousin who works in the Middle East and was able to get a tourist visa. She will be
staying for about three weeks. Actually by now, she already has started her journey. From ME she will go first to Manila to attend her daughter’s high school graduation then come here before going back to
ME. Another set of visitors is coming on the 10th. They are hubby’s visitors. These are more about mens stuff like tennis, car shows, basketball, alcohol but no blu cigs. My husband is in charge. After
they are all gone, my BIL and SIL are coming from the Philippines. My sister-in-law is a first timer together with her husband. This one is sort of a family reunion on my hubby’s side minus one sister. Everything has been set as to where we are going to bring them around the tri-state. There are also plans of driving to Canada which is only six hours away from us. We are very excited to see them. We cannot wait for the time we can be together here in the U.S. this time.

Last week, I watched the Oscars on direct tv cable. I was glad to see Meryl Streep win another Oscar, but I have to admit, I haven’t seen the Iron Lady. I definitely want to see it after all the praise that it got and certainly after the awards that it one. The award that was really cool that it won was “best make-up”. When it was nominated, I really didn’t understand why it was in the category. During the Oscars they showed a little blurb about the transition of Merill Streepinto Margaret Thatcher. Honestly, the transition was unbelievable. They made her young and they made her old. Meryl became Margaret through these makeup techniques right down to having fake teeth made to look like Margaret Thatcher’s. They said that sometimes the transition would take up to three hours in one day! Can you imagine how early you would have to be on set to get make up. Way too early for me! I don’t think that I could ever be an actress and sit through three or more hours of make up, just to take it off shortly there after!

Dr. Seuss Birthday

In celebration of Dr. Seuss birthday last Match 2, kids at school were treated by their principal and some parent volunteers by wearing Cat in The Hat and Thing 1 Thing 2 costumes. They went around the school greeting everybody and sending off the kids home at dismissal time.

Today is what they call a leap day or a leap year when we refer to 2011. We got an extra day in the month of february which only happens every four years. On tv this morning, they were talking about traditions on leap day and someone mentioned that today is the day that a girl can ask a guy to marry him and the man has to accept it. I think they were talking about an irish tradition. So there you go guys, the day is just starting, you may get a proposal today. It happens only every four years.

I also want to greet everybody who is celebrating his/her birthday today. Happy birthday to all leap year celebrants. Enjoy your very special day. Next time you celebrate on the exact date is 2016.

I wasn't so sure about having everyone come over to my house for the Super Bowl. Besides, I probably have the smallest house out of everyone. But I also don't' have any kids, so I'm sure that also factored into that decision. But I happily accepted and said that I would handle the buffalo wings for the night.

At first, I was just going to order in some buffalo wings, but then I realized just how much more expensive that is on the day of the Super Bowl and figured out I could do it for much, much cheaper on my own. So I set out looking for a good recipe to use for that. While I was doing that, I ran across a debt counseling site that I bookmarked for later because I need to do something about my debt.

I was pretty proud of the job that I did with the wings! It was super spicy but you were still able to taste the chicken wings, which is what I was going for. I hate when wings are too hot to where you can't tell what you're eating.

They all knew I was cooking so they all came for dinner and to show off the ash virgin sneaker to me. Now that all the step daughters are grown and living on their own apartments, we only see one another not often anymore. The older one comes to the house quite often than the younger one because the two boys (the grandkids) play with Isabella but the 20 one year old, we only see her on special occasions and only when I have pancit molo cooked. Trade Show Is Coming

I was informed by the coordinator that the company’s trade show in April is not cancelled. There had been rumors coming out at the end of the year that maybe it will be postponed because some of our distributors backed out and there were not enough reservations made. I guess they were able to work out some deals.

We have two months to prepare. We still have the logo canopy for the entrance of the hotel that we have been using for years. It is going to be at the same venue so they staff basically know what to do with regards to the trade show carpet plus the logo mats from different suppliers. There will be classes held simultaneously while the trade show is ongoing so interested parties can just call my job for reservations and schedule. Lunch, snacks and dinner are provided by us too.

I hope we get a lot of participants this year and if we do my boss is planning to do this twice a starting next year. He plans to split the cooling and heating systems into two shows. This will be more work but everything is still in the planning stage yet. For now, we have to concentrate and focus on this forthcoming show.

It's a Snow Day

The most awaited snow of the season has come. Winter is not winter when it does not snow in our area. To me, it is incomplete. This snow is not really a snow storm but we got around 3 inches since 5 am this morning. My daughter just cannot wait to be outside and play. She helped me clean the car but more of playing for her. She does not want to go back inside the while i was already freezing! Just love being in the snow.

Alvin, Issa and the Chipmunks

New Year's Day was a day for movies. Off we went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks for me and Isabella while hubby was at the Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. The chipmunks are one of her favorites. So as promised, we went to see it.

Moving into the dorm

I am finally moved into my college dorm. I never thought it would be this great. College has been fabulous so far. It is everything I hoped it would be. My hall is very friendly. I have met several girls whom I get along with very well. We have a lot in common and after one week, we are already best friends. My sister was kind enough to help me move all my stuff into the dorm and I think she was in shock. Her dorm was terrible. The roof was falling down, the beds were broken and only one shower worked. When she saw my walk-in closet, she thought I was spoiled. I am not going to tell her the rooms also have direct TV. She will probably pitch a fit, if she ever finds out. My sister loved college too and told me I would make some of the best memories here. So far, she has been right. I can’t wait to meet more people and maybe even find a special someone.
