Me and the daughter had breakfast at Panera last Saturday morning while Hubby was playing tennis with friends. We both had asiago bagel a with cream cheese. Panera bagels are the best. My favorites are asiago, cinnamon crunch, blueberry, chocolate chip and plain (if none of the above). If you notice, we were both busy while eating my daughter brought her portable dvd while i am busy dropping. It's free wifi in Panera.
The stepdaughter and her friends are having a fashion show this coming July 31st. This is a fund raising show for the benefit of some street children in the Philippines. They need make up so she asked permission if they can use my Asian Makeup but we have to order some Black Makeup for some of her friends in the show. I know they only have a week to prepare but I am sure videoshelf.com can ship my order on time. I have trusted Aesthetic VideoSource for all my makeup needs and it is through their website that I learned the techniques of how to apply makeup not only to myself but to others as well. I am also letting the girls watch the DVD about new professional makeup technique so that they can learn how to apply makeup. For ladies, it is beneficial to learn so that you don’t have to go to the salon to have it done. Who knows this could also be a start of a new career in you.
Finally, hubby got it. Apple has the 16 GB Iphone 3Gs in stock after several weeks of not having it. We went to the Apple Store today to buy one and we were done in 20 minutes, Iphone activated and yahoo mail synced. For the contacts, we did it at home by just syncing the new Iphone to itunes. There's more to get familiar with specially with the hundreds of apps you can download but at least we have done the two important ones - contacts and email.
The stepdaughter will be starting college this coming fall. Right now, as much as possible she wants to get more hours at her job so that she can save money for school. She received a grant but that would only cover her tuition and school. Her books, apartment and food will be on us. She cannot give up her job once she starts school because she will surely need the money for her daily expenses. College life is never easy but it has to be done to get yourself a good education and eventually a stable job in the future. In a matter of weeks, these college students will be heading down to their dorms and start a life away from their parents. Right now is the time to start preparing for this day.
To help parents prepare, Sears has a program set for college students called Sears CampusReady where it gives you ideas what are the things needed in a dorm. Our college student has few more weeks left before she is officially bound for college. I will be checking Sears CampusReady to make sure I have all the important stuffs she needed. Making a checklist is very important before heading to any Sears store for all her dorm needs. This is a new chapter in her life, a preparation to a tougher life ahead.
Every Wednesday during summer time, there is a mini concert at the amphitheater by the municipal building in our town. This is a free concert up to August 19 featuring different bands every week. This started last July with The Infernos, then Neil & The Diamonds the following Wednesday. Today it will be “Big Shot” - Billy Joel Tribute turn to perform. This is a nice treat to us residents, enjoying the longer nights and free from the freezing weather.
I have a friend who has been living with us for about six months now. She is from Canada and was transferred by her company to work at their main office in New York City. Since she does not know anybody here in the East Coast, so I invited her to stay at our house for the time that she gets adjusted to the place. We live in New Jersey but New York City is just 30 minutes away by car, train or bus. Before she moved in with us, I told her that if the time comes that she wants to get her own place, do not be hesitant to tell me and I would not get offended. So last week, she told me that she has plans of moving to the city, and get an apartment closer to her work.
So this is what we have been doing for the past days - finding her an apartment. We borrowed hubby’s iPhone and downloaded the MyNewPlace in the iPhone app store so that we can find available apartments close to her job by using the GPS or search by city, state or zip code. With this new application and Iphone’s unique feature, we are able to get directions, maps and call or email the property directly. We can also take pictures and notes of our favorite listings then instantly share it with friends and family on face book. This free application has saved us a lot of time searching from millions of apartments available in the city. I had my blood work done last Saturday at LabCorp. This is part of my annual physical check-up. I was so starving because fasting was required at least 8-10 hours before. I am scared on having blood work done but just got used to it when I got pregnant. I can’t remember how many times you have to do this when you are pregnant. Anyway, the guy who did it last Saturday was very good. I was really praying they find my vein on the first poke.
We then went to Starbucks to have breakfast. I had two bagels with cream cheese. Gutom! Starbucks has been our favorite place since they started to serve breakfast. Hubby and daughter always get their breakfast sandwiches and a bagel for me.
These are pictures last Independence Day. Our town has its fireworks display at the parking lot of one of the big malls here. The crowd starts to build up by late afternoon so we tried to come early to get a good spot. It was fun time for kids, enjoying all the rides, slides, train rides and a lot of eats. The fireworks started around 9:30 p.m. and it lasted for about 30 minutes. As always, it is a race getting out of the parking area after the show otherwise you will be trapped in traffic. We made sure we parked close to the exit. We did a good job this year. We were home in 10 minutes.
I got an email today that the Bedroom Sets we ordered are due to arrive this weekend. I just ordered them at Spacify.com and I cannot believe how quick they can ship it with no freight charges. Now, I have to rush cleaning the attic because the step daughter wants to move up there for more space. We have been using the attic as storage for the time being. So with the new bedroom set arriving, that goes to the bedroom next to our room for Isabella then the stepdaughter will be using the attic as her bedroom/study area. She will be starting college this fall making the attic her perfect hideaway from noise and clutter of her younger sister.
It was hubby’s birthday last June 28 and to celebrate his birthday we had dinner at Mt. Fuji Steak and Japanese Restaurant. It is a hibachi restaurant where food is cooked right in front of you. The kids suggested the place. We enjoyed the food while the small kids got entertained by the cook as he does tricks while cooking in front of you. For the pricing, I would say it was reasonable because they only charge full price for the adults and $5.00 additional for small kids. Other than the food that you wanted to be cooked, you also enjoy a buffet appetizer consisting of various salads, buffalo wings, spring rolls, teriyaki and a lot more. To me, this is a restaurant perfect for a family celebration. I have some picture to share.

It was a madhouse at the coach outlet last Sunday. We were at the coach outlet store in woodbury commons, harriman, new york. It was already packed just two hours after they opened. I was not surprised because there were really some good deals, like 50% off plus another 20% for that day only. Who can beat that, right? I am sure there will be more good deals this 4th of July weekend sale.
