Juday and Ryan Marries

Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo tied the knot on early morning (7 am) of Tuesday April 28 at San Juan Nepomuceno Church in San Juan Batangas. The officiating priest was Fr. Tito Caluag, their spiritual adviser with Sharon Cuneta as the Maid of Honor and Ryan’s brother Dondi as the best man. During the wedding, Agot Isidro sang “Runaway” while Ogie and Regine sang “The Prayer.”

The couple has been so secretive about their wedding plans and the exact date of the wedding (you can’t blame them) while rumors going around that it will held on May 2nd. I think they were successful in misleading people about the date. All the bride was asking was a private wedding since her life has been open to the public already. Reception was at a private and undisclosed resort.

Boston Market Dinner

I did not get the chance to cook dinner yesterday. By the time I got home which was around 6pm, we hurriedly went to the nike factory store to return something which was the last day to do it. By the time we got out of the store, it was almost 7pm so we decided to eat dinner at Boston Market where the step daughter works.


This is what hubby had, quarter roasted chicken (white meat), beans and corn. My husband will not mind if he eats chicken everyday. He is more health conscious than me. We like BM because the chicken is not fried but broiled.

This what I got for myself. Salisbury steak with dip, mashed potato with gravy and corn. The steak was good and very tender. I also like the au jus where you can dip your steak and adding more flavor to it.

This is for the baby girl. Oh, she was hungry. She finished all these mac cheese and corn.

I also love BM's corn bread. I had 4 to go last night and it was a perfect breakfast this morning.

I just got off the phone with one of hubby’s nieces who lives in Illinois. I was surprised when she left me a voicemail today so right away when I got home I asked hubby to call her back. She is inviting us to attend her graduation next month. I forgot she is already a senior in high school. All of a sudden I felt very old. My Turbo Broiler

We were at the Korean Store last Saturday doing our regular fish and seafood marketing when I saw this Convection Oven. They have several demos and food tasting ongoing and when hubby saw me staring at this one, he smiled and said; “di ba yan ang hinahanap mo mommy?” I just nod my head and without second thoughts I asked hubby to pick up one.

Yes, this is the turbo broiler I have known from the Philippines. I never see this at any regular home store here; only in Asian stores but too expensive. This one is only $39.99, regular is$49.99. I remember we have one back home (many many years ago) made by Imarflex but not the glass one. I will never forget how good it cooks pork belly and pork chops (huh! Those were the days!!!).

We haven’t tried it yet but I have a whole chicken seasoned in the refrigerator since last night. Maybe we can have it tonight. What I really like is how the fat just drips at the bottom of the pan separating from the food you are cooking.

Easter 2009

First Easter Egg hunt was at the Municipal Football Field in our town. It was for Pre-k to third grade but they were broken up to three different groups. For Pre-k’s to Kindergarten, the Easter egg hunt was held inside the library. See the egg along with the books? The coordinator said that it is the only chance to be noisy inside the library. They also hired somebody to make free decorative balloons for the kids. After they found all the eggs, they all went back to the football field to have fun with the bunny and to get more goodies from our town.

Next Easter Egg Hunt was at the school last Thursday. This is per class with their teachers and the principal. They went out of the building for a little bit to find the eggs and for parents to take pictures then go back to their classrooms to eat.

Last Sunday, we only baked some Easter cookies and decorate her big Easter chocolate egg.

Whole Foods Market, a natural and organic supermarket is one of my favorites. I am happy that they opened a new branch right here in Paramus, New Jersey. Story of Christ on Twitter This Good Friday

Of course you heard about Twitter. If not, it is like a blogging but they call it micro because of the limited characters allowed. It is also a social networking where members can read or send each other’s updates or tweets.

This Good Friday, Wall Street Trinity church located in New York City is using twitter to perform the Passion of Christ. The main characters will be sending tweets to your cell phones or emails for three hours starting at noon on Good Friday (today). Also, the lower Manhattan Episcopal parish will do their own version of the Stations of the Cross on the web.
I can’t check this. I don’t have twitter (yet!).

My New Set of Checks

When I migrated here in the U.S. so many years ago, I see it strange when people use their personal checks to pay everything. At the supermarkets, department stores, doctor’s offices and even at the salon, people use their checks to pay. I think that having a personal check is a must and it becomes a part of your everyday life. How many checks do we use to pay our bills and mail it, right? In the Philippines, it is not really safe to be doing this. Imagine how many shoppers can get away with their purchases by just writing a check!

When I got a job at a bank as a teller, I process hundreds of checks every day. Here I saw the various designs and how people take time to customize their personal checks. Had I not ordered my free checks already, I could have opted for the customized ones. It is far different from those boring and traditional designs that you see in most checks. It did not take long for my box of checks to be all gone.

It has been years now that I always have my checks customized. I always get compliments on how beautiful my checks are. Things have changed though since I had my daughter. My check designs are more kid friendly. Now, I remember I have to issue 12 checks for my house payments. I give them 12 checks for the whole year, all dated for each month. I still prefer to do the traditional way when it comes to my home bills. With 12 checks gone, I have one stub left so I need to order more. It's Good Friday But I'm At Work

If I am in the philippines right now, probably we just got back from church or be doing the "kapilya" for the procession later in the day. We always do the 3rd station. This is how i remember my good friday during my pre-teen years. I have not been at my hometown on good friday for decades so I don't really how it is at the moment. But right now on good friday, i am working until 4pm today. I could not take this day off because somebody senior than me already did. We both cannot be away at the same time. Sigh!

All About Cables

Last Saturday I worked for half a day as overtime. I was supposed to stay until two o’clock but luckily it was shortened because we have to shut off our computers for a patch panel clean up. The guys who are doing the work came early and unloaded their stuffs right at my office. I never saw that many cables in my life! That was not enough because one guy has to run out to get more lc multimode cables. Just recently I came to know about hdmi when we hook up our blue ray to the TV. I just thank them that they came early so I was able to leave by 12 noon.

Alma Moreno Remarries

I saw on GMA TV some footages of the recent wedding of Alma Moreno to Marawi City Mayor Fahad U. Salic in Muslim rites. It was held last March 21 at the Vista Mar resort in Cebu City with all her children from her exes namely: Mark Anthony (with the late Rudy Fernandez), Vandolph (with Dolphy), & Yeoj, Wynwyn, VJ and Em-em (with Joey Marquez). Joey was her first marriage which has been annulled. Alma met her husband last December while currently serving as a councilor of Paranaque City.

The Platzreife

We finally switched our cable company. My husband is very happy with the new service because we are able to subscribe to his two favorite sports namely the golf and tennis channels. He would be able to watch different events and tournaments any time of the day. He plays tennis but he also likes golf although he does not play this sport. He likes watching the golfreisen held in different countries with famous international players participating.

Last night, he invited me to watch a show featuring golf in Europe particularly Germany. I learned that anybody that knows how to play gold can play in Germany. Golfing is considered as an elite sport in their country. It is not open to the public line the ones here in the U.S. or other countries. You must have a platzreife known as the golfing license to be allowed on the green. Getting the platzreife requirement is not easy too. First, you have to pass a written exam and a hands-on test. The written exam is a test on your knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golfing. The test consists of 30 questions and you have to get at least 24 correct answers to pass it. Just a reminder, the exam is in German. With the practical test, your driving, putting and chipping skills are tested then you have to join an 18 hole round with a maximum of 108 strokes. You could be spending like $300 for the training. The only exemption from the platzreife if you are a foreign player and you can show your handicap card from your golf club.

When we went home to the Philippines two years ago, it was the first time that my mom saw my daughter. She is my mom’s first grand daughter. We stayed for about one month and when it was time go home it was a bit difficult. We promised to be back again I hope late this year or early next year. Anyway, on our last day in the province, my mom brought pieces of jewelry belonging to me when I was still little. I forgot all about them but when I saw the tiny ring, bracelet and necklace, all of a sudden I remember wearing them when I was small. I Thought She Is Only Into Tennis

There was a bucket of tears flowing on her cheeks when we left this place yesterday. Her voice was all over the store yelling/crying..."i want to play golf, mommy"....

This green is at the sports store that hubby normally goes for his tennis stuffs. My daughter had fun playing golf until it was time to leave. If it was not closing time yet, I could have let her play more but it was almost 9pm. Next time baby!

So Far so Good on April Fool’s

If you do something foolish today, you got an excuse – it’s April fool’s day. So far my day is going well. What did I do? First thing, brought Isabella to school, went for my biometrics, then to Target – bought 2 shirts, Easter candies and a Barbie rapunzel DVD. I also stopped by Nike store then at the Gap. By the time I got home to unload some stuffs, it was time to pick her up from school then drop her off at the babysitter and off to work I go. Yes, I did call earlier that I am running late today.
